Gabbard Family Values
Mike and Carol pictured with Narayan (aka Ryan), Jai, Bhakti, Vrindarvan (aka Darvan) and Tulsi.
Mike Gabbard is always publishing pictures and details of his family to support his image as the wholesome family man. As a wholesome family man Mike Gabbard would no doubt assure you that there is nothing more serious or personal than the decisions involved with having and raising children.
It is certainly no secret that the Gabbard children have very unusual names - vedic names - precisely the sort of names that it is customary for devotees to give to their children. With the standard among Chris Butler's followers this is an obvious indication that for at least the past 33 years, since his oldest son was born, and for many years after Mike Gabbard has been following the customs of a religion which he denies any serious or personal connection to.
A not so well known fact for those who are not very familiar with Science of Identity is that it is common for Chris Butler to arrange marriages, particularly among senior disciple families, to further his many business and political interests and consolidate his influence over his followers. With his constant scaremongering and preaching against association with any 'karmis' (non-believers) Science of Identity has evolved into quite a close-knit community.
If the Gabbards are not followers of Chris Butler it is yet another co-incidence that Tulsi married Eduardo (aka Edward) Tamayo - the son of Jeff Tamayo, Chris Butler's most wealthy and influential disciplic family in the Phillipines. This was an arranged marriage just as Eduardo's father and many followers in the Phillipines also had marriages which were determined by Chris Butler.
Arranged Marriage and the Tamayo Family
Jeff's first born, Edward used to run around as a toddler in the hall during kirtans. He used to be a very sickly boy, always skinny from the time I saw him as a baby to a young lad. The strangest thing is his mom's name was also Tulsi dasi, Jeff Tamayo's first wife. Jeff was a handsome young man, came from a very rich family of military background - his father was a general. I believe Jeff himself entered the military with the rank of a colonel. He was also a Tae Kwon do black belt and was active in International competitions, represented Philippines. Jeff's real name could be Antonio as the link about Tulsi says (son of Col. Antonio Tamayo). If I'm right there's one picture of Tulsi posing with her welcoming family, and an unidentified boyish-looking man beside her. He resembled the baby Edward I remember. Jeff (Nityananda) and the older Toby (Tapas) are the quintessential disciples. They were always nice, courteous, well-mannered and very cagey. If you're a woman they are the guys to marry; mothers-in-law will adore them. They were like the Pandava brothers, Arjuna and Bheesma.
Here's funny, I don't what's behind the story. Jeff was arranged-married to Tulsi. Tulsi looked like Whoopie Goldberg, and she was anything but sophisticated. She dances like a witch in kirtans and was sort of a comedian, but very frank and nice. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just that it's sort of a marriage that is only possible in a cult. I think it's a case of the "I'm not the body" gone wild. And Jeff, being the perfect role model took the arrangement in stride. He's even surprisingly sweet. In public, you'll see them canoodling. They had Edward and I believe another baby girl. It would have been a match made in Vrndavan, until he fell for his present wife - Shye Aquino, a very beautiful, stunningly, well-educated young woman. To make the long story short, the "I’m not the body" metre, just fell back to zero. The other funny thing was everybody seemed relieved. And Shye was married and had three or four kids already until she fell for Jeff. But o! n material level they are obviously matched perfectly. Shye I believe was the prettiest then in the Haribol; and they seemed to have crush on each other before this matching hullabaloos started. Oh those days. That wasn't the only arranged marriages that went wrong. I don't think even half survived. Everybody seemed to have adjusted to the more realistic matches. But that was after there were kids already. Considering divorce is not recognized in the catholic Philippines, the present kids are now all considered illegitimate. Big, big disaster. I think CB was just making fun of them when he started this match-up game; I'm not even sure if it was CB, from the way the matches turned out maybe it was Sudama. Sudama can be so deviously funny; it won't be a surprise he'll get to that extent. I've known Sudama played mind games on people to that level, and he's a master mind game player.
